The 'C'-factor: Do You Have It ??
" And.. the award for the Best Playback Singer (Male)
goes to Arijit Singh for the latest sensational ' Tum Hi Ho'..."
A journey of eight long years is what it
took the 'guy next door' to be recognized by one of the most prestigious award
jury of the Indian Film industry. The Filmfare Awards. Yes, the one that has
been redefining the stardom of the Bollywood Biggies like Mr. Bachchan, SRK and
many more, over the years.
Well, how many of you would agree if I say
that the guy who made it at par with the industry's front liners, has got a
drop-dead attractive look or a Hrithik-like built ? Hopefully, none. Sorry for
being rude here but one's praised for what he possesses. Be it intellect,
knowledge, looks or even voice. Not just in the showbiz, but everywhere. For
those opining against showbiz as 'sheer vanity' and 'unintellectual', its high
time to go for a reality check. And once you're ready, I might tell you how.
Needless
to say, none of them grabbed the limelight overnight or magically, at the drop
of their hats. Nor did they receive their stardom on the Christmas Eve, popping
out of the Santa's hat. It all took time. And when I say time, I mean it in
years, if not in ages. The 'Pratisksha' and the 'Mannat' that many of us keep
hovering around in the weekends just to catch a glimpse of the 'Gods of the
Silver Screen', were neither built in one day, nor did they become the talk of
the nation because of the architecture. As I said, it took time. Time that we
lack or do we simply pretend to. Time, that goes by doing so much, of no value.
And more than time, it took them the 'C' factor. We cannot be sure of having
something to live for unless we are willing to die for it. The 'C' factor is what
shapes your life, the way you want. And if you want it real hard, it might
shape your dreams as well. Again, much flawlessly than you could imagine.
'Commitment leads to action, action brings
your dream closer.'
For
those still wondering, what is this all about, good question. Well, its the 'C'
as in 'Commitment'. That's what it takes to get there. Trust me or not, this is
what keeps you reminded of what you once decided to achieve and protects you
from the harsh blows that come your way. Be it that long-awaited relationship
with that special one or a an innate desire to do and to be different. Of
course there's a need to work hard, but what do you think keeps you dedicated
to your dreams ?
The youth of today has a great deal of courage
and expertise. They know what they want and where to get it. More than everything,
they are zealous to chase their dreams. But the distractions, the frivolousness,
within and around, hinder their path. No matter how ambitiously you begin your
endeavor, in the end, it's your commitment that helps you sail through all
odds. And why just ambitions, our personal relationships too, are decided by
this 'C' factor.
And for those still wondering what I actually
mean to say, I'd like to elaborate, or may be broaden their vision somehow.
Don't ever give up.
Don't ever give in.
Don't ever stop trying.
Don't ever sell out.
And if you find yourself succumbing to one of
the above for a brief moment,
pick yourself up, brush
yourself off, whisper a prayer, and start where you left off.
But never, ever, give up...
That's the long-sought 'C'
factor. That's COMMITMENT.
"Our
dreams have to be bigger. Our ambitions, higher. Our commitment, deeper.
And our efforts, greater."
